We started our tour business in Barcelona in 2018, but the story really began long before that. We are Michael and Christian, two German globetrotters who spent years traveling the world, always searching for meaningful experiences and authentic connections. Along the way, we visited many beautiful places, but Barcelona was the city that truly captured our hearts. What started as a temporary stay slowly turned into a new chapter of our lives. We found ourselves drawn to the city’s energy, its Mediterranean lifestyle, its rich history, and the warmth of its people. Before long, Barcelona no longer felt like a stop on a journey — it felt like home.
As passionate travelers ourselves, we often noticed a gap between what typical tourism offers and what curious travelers actually seek. Many tours focused on crowded landmarks, rigid schedules, and surface-level information. While those experiences can be enjoyable, they rarely reveal the true soul of a place. We believed that travel could be more personal, more human, and more memorable. That idea became the foundation of our project.
Inspired by our love for Barcelona and our passion for authentic travel, we created small, intimate walking tours designed to feel less like a formal tour and more like exploring the city with a knowledgeable friend. Our goal was simple: to share the Barcelona we had fallen in love with. Instead of only visiting famous sights, we guided guests through hidden alleys, quiet squares, and neighborhoods where daily life unfolds naturally. We shared stories about local traditions, history, food culture, and the little details that make a city come alive.
From the very beginning, our approach resonated with travelers. Guests appreciated the relaxed atmosphere, the personal storytelling, and the feeling of discovering places they would never have found on their own. Many told us that our tours were the highlight of their trip. Those early reviews and kind words gave us the confidence to grow. Step by step, what began as a small idea turned into a boutique tour company built on passion, quality, and genuine connection.
Building on the success and positive feedback from The Barcelona Feeling, we eventually decided to expand our concept to another city close to our hearts — Amsterdam. Having spent significant time there as well (Christian studied in Amsterdam), we felt a similar connection to its culture and lifestyle. With The Amsterdam Feeling, we aimed to offer the same philosophy: small-scale, authentic experiences that go beyond typical tourist highlights. We wanted guests to connect with Amsterdam’s character, its history, and its everyday life, just as they did in Barcelona. Expanding to a second city was both exciting and challenging, but it allowed us to bring our vision to more travelers.

Feature on German TV in the travel programme “Abenteuer Leben täglich”
A particularly memorable milestone for us came when we were featured on national German television with our Barcelona signature tour, “Explore Hidden Streets.” On July 29, 2022, our work appeared on the travel program “Abenteuer Leben täglich.” The episode explored two different ways of discovering Barcelona. One presenter followed a traditional guidebook, while the other searched for experiences through social media and personal recommendations.
When presenter Helen contacted us a few months earlier, we were delighted by the opportunity. We guided her through the historic heart of Barcelona on our walking tour “Explore Hidden Streets with a Friend.” Together, we wandered through peaceful backstreets away from the crowds, talking about history, culture, and local life. We showed her corners of the city that many visitors overlook, from small artisan shops to tucked-away plazas filled with stories. The filming process itself was a new adventure for us. It required patience, repetition, and long hours, and at times we did not realize how much work happened behind the scenes. But when we finally saw the finished episode, we felt proud and grateful. The result captured exactly what we love about our tours: curiosity, authenticity, and human connection.
Being featured on television allowed us to present some of Barcelona’s real gems to a broader audience. It also reminded us how special it is to share our passion with others. Even with that exposure, we have always remained true to our original philosophy. We focus on quality over quantity and on personal experiences rather than mass tourism.
Today, with over 500 five-star reviews from guests around the world, we feel incredibly thankful. Travelers often describe us as knowledgeable, personable, and professional — words that mean a lot to us because they reflect the care we put into every tour. For us, it is not just about guiding people through a city. It is about creating moments they will remember long after their trip ends.
Looking ahead
Looking ahead, we remain motivated by the same passion that started it all. We continue exploring our cities, discovering new stories, and refining our experiences. Every guest brings a new perspective, and every tour is a new conversation. That is what keeps our work exciting and meaningful.
At the heart of it, our mission is simple: to help people experience a city not as tourists, but as temporary locals. And as long as there are curious travelers who want to explore beyond the obvious, we will be happy to walk those hidden streets together.
